• Aircraft, animals or vehicles hitting the building.

• Water leaking from any fixed appliance, pipe, tank or fish tank plus damage to these items caused by freezing or forcible and violent bursting.
• Falling trees or branches, lampposts or telegraph poles.
• Oil leaking from any fixed appliance, pipe or tank.
• Accidental breakage of fixed glass, fixed sanitary ware or ceramic hobs in fixed kitchen furniture.
• Breakage or collapse of satellite television-receiving equipment or television and radio aerials.
• Accidental damage to cables and underground pipes serving your home including the cost of breaking into and repairing the pipe between the main sewer and your home following a blocked pipe.

Cover can also be extended to include accidental damage caused by yourself, your family or any visitors to the property.

Liability to other - this covers your legal liability as the owner of the building to compensate others if, following an accident during the period of insurance, someone dies, is injured, falls ill or has their property damaged. The policy we recommend offers £2,000,000 sums insured for any claim(s) arising from any single incident, which includes legal costs and expenses.

Alternative accommodation - this covers the cost of living in temporary accommodation if your property is deemed unfit to live in following an event under the building section above. This covers the cost up to 20% of your selected sums insured.

Replacing locks - this covers the cost of replacing all of the locks to your home should you lose your house keys anywhere in the world.

Tracing a leak - this covers the cost of removing and then repairing, replacing or reinstating any part of the building when this is necessary to find the source of a water leak from any fixed water appliance, pipe or tank that is causing damage to the buildings.

Index-linked - this cover automatically increases your buildings sum insured each month in line with the House Rebuilding Cost Index produced by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Selling your home - if at the time of a claim you have contracted to sell your home, the buyer will have the benefit of this policy as long as the purchase is completed.

Liability to other - this covers your legal liability as an occupier in the property to compensate others if, following an accident during the period of insurance, someone dies, is injured, falls ill or has their property damaged. The policy we recommend offers £2,000,000 sums insured (£10,000,00 for domestic employees) for any claim(s) arising from any single incident, which includes legal costs and expenses.

Contents in the open - this covers you up to a value of £1,000 for loss or damage to contents in the open within the boundaries of your home, this includes plans, shrubs or trees in pots or containers.

Temporary removal - this covers your contents up to a value of £5,000 while temporarily removed from your home to within the UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands and the Republic of Ireland.

Moving to a new home - this covers sudden and unexpected loss of or physical damage to your contents (but not money) while they are being moved to your new permanent home in the British Isles by professional movers. This automatically includes up to seven days cover while they are temporarily stored in furniture storage.

Gifts - this cover automatically increases your contents sum insured by £5,000 during December and January to cover gifts and other related purchases. Similarly, this extension also applies one month before and after the day of a wedding by you or a member of your family.

Tenants Cover - this covers loss of or damage to your home if you are the tenant of a property, including parts of the structure, decorations, fixtures and fittings that you are responsible for under the tenancy agreement for a value of £10,000. This does not, and cannot be extended to include, accidental damage cover.

Jury service - this covers loss of earnings or expenses incurred in serving as a juror, up to £50 per day for up to 20days.

Prams and wheelchairs - this covers any prams or wheelchairs you own against theft or damage from anywhere in the world up to a value of £500. Any accessories contained within the pram, or wheelchair, are also covered if stolen at the same time.

Frozen food - this automatically covers the reasonable cost to replace all the food and drink held within your fridge or freezer should the appliance breakdown or the power supply unexpectedly turn off.

Title deeds - this cover protects you against the replacement value of your title deeds should they be lost or damaged under an event in the contents section whilst held in your home, or the offices of your mortgage lender, solicitor or bank.

There are two types of personal possession, unspecified or specified. The first covers any items listed above up to a single value of £1,500 whereas the second covers individual items with a single value of more than £1,500 and must be named on the policy. Please note that unless specified pedal cycles will only be covered for up to £500 per cycle.
